One area community will receive funding for future tree planting projects.  The city of Packwood will receive $2,500 in grant money from the Branching Out Program, which is sponsored by Interstate Power and Light Company, an affiliate of Alliant Energy, and Trees Forever.

Alliant Energy spokesman Justin Foss says the program brings community leaders together with the two groups to complete locally-led tree planting projects.  He says it encourages energy efficiency, environmental awareness, and community involvement.

Packwood is one of 25 Iowa communities to receive the funding.
