Those still wishing to have a good looking lawn can receive help from horticulture specialists.  Nancy Adrian with the Washington County Extension says their horticulture hotline is available to answer questions on lawn and weed control.

The hotline was first established in 1983 and has specialists that can answer questions related on when the best time is to apply herbicide to control dandelions and other broadleaf weeds and how to apply the herbicides.

They can also help with issues of controlling “Creeping Charlie” and violets.  To learn more about the ISU Extension’s horticulture hotline you can call Monday through Friday 10:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:30 at (515) 294-3108 or you can email them at hortline@iastate.edu.
