Several Washington County 4-H members competed at the State Livestock Judging competition in Ames recently and brought home high honors.  The group of 15 members divided into different teams based on their attendance and performance throughout the summer and at the county contest.

During the competition, the youth analyze four animals of each species in each class and rank them from best to worst.

Washington’s Senior Team made of Macy Marek, Lexi Marek, Lauren Carter, Joni Erwin earned third overall team while also earning second place in the beef division and second place in oral reasons.  The team will now go on to the American Royal in Kansas City to judge at the national level.   Macy Marek was fifth place overall in individual scores.  Other senior team judges included Cara Hahn, Sarah Greiner and Jordan Stout.

Washington’s Junior Team # 1 made of McKenna Brinning,  Morgan Brinning, Erin Chalupa and Logan Sieren were second overall team.  Morgan Brinning earned first place in questions and was the fourth place overall in the junior division.  Logan Sieren was fifth place overall in the junior division.  This team also earned third place in the Top Placings Team.

Washington’s Junior Team #2 made of Isaiah Hahn, Luke Greiner, Emma Stout, and Ryan Chalupa earned third place overall team.  This team earned first place in the Top Team Questions and second place in the Top Placings Team.   Isaiah Hahn also earned 10th place overall in the junior division as well as first place in the placings contest.
