As state officials begin to discuss the future of rural post offices in Iowa, Congressman Dave Loebsack says he’s working hard to keep area offices open.  While the U.S. Postal Service continues to look for ways to balance their budget, Loebsack says there are other ways to address those issues than closing rural post offices.

He says he wants to avoid residents having to drive long distances just to get their mail.  Governor Terry Branstad also said this week he hopes the Postal Service explores other options.

Ten communities in four different area counties are in danger of losing their post offices.
