Mid-Prairie students began the school year in a newly renovated high school building, but the school district is already preparing for another construction project.  Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider says the $5.5 million renovation of the high school resulted in a new geothermal heating and cooling system and crews will put the finishing touches on the project in the next couple of weeks.

He says once the high school renovation is complete, the district’s central office is next on the agenda.  That office will undergo a complete interior overhaul as the building hasn’t been updated since the district took possession of it in 1986.

Schneider says because the school board wasn’t able to use local companies for the high school renovation, it plans to use all local construction companies during that renovation.
