Three seats on the Washington City Council are up for election this fall.  City Clerk Illa Earnest says there are positions in Ward 1 and Ward 3 as well as an At-Large seat on the City Council.  She says those running in Wards 1 and 3 must live in those wards and anyone running for At-Large can live any place in the city.

Earnest adds there is also an open seat on the City’s Park Board.  Those voting in the entire city of Washington will choose the At-Large member and the individual to serve on the Park Board.

Members of the City Council will serve for four years, while the term on the Park Board is six years.  Anyone interested in running can pick up the proper papers from City Hall or on the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

All paperwork is due by 5:00 on Thursday, September 22nd.  For more information, contact Illa Earnest at Washington City Hall.
