The Iowa Association of School Boards has announced two different school boards in the state have been chosen as the winners of the 2011 Boards Making a Difference Award.  The Washington School Board is being recognized based on their recognition of the importance of establishing a vision for continuous improvement and clearly defined goals.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says he is proud of the focus “on the curriculum, core curriculum, and literacy in the district” as well as the improvement in the achievement of students shown in all of the grades over the last four years.

Also receiving this award was the Cardinal Community School District in Eldon.  Both Boards will be formally recognized at the IASB’s annual convention in November.
