With the Washington School Board recently holding a meeting regarding school facilities, Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says there are three ways school districts can fund repairs, renovations, or construction of facilities.  He mentions one way of funding is through a School Local Option Sales Tax.  A second way of funding Dr. Jorgensen notes is through a Physical Plant and Equipment Levy.  The last option of funding is through a property tax bond issue.

He says the Board of Education is having very critical discussions on the future of the 1918 building and will need to choose how they will prepare the building to become the district’s middle school. Dr. Jorgensen adds he hopes all stakeholders will join in the future of the district’s facilities. To see more from Dr. Jorgensen, click here.
