The city of Washington will be receiving funding for future tree planting projects.  The city is going to obtain $2,000 in grant money from the Branching Out Program.  This program is sponsored by Interstate Power and Light Company, an affiliate of Alliant Energy, and Trees Forever.

Justin Foss, Alliant Energy spokesman says the program brings community leaders together with the two groups to complete locally-led tree planting projects.  He says energy efficiency, environmental awareness, and community involvement is encouraged with these grants.

Washington is one of 25 communities in Iowa to receive the funding.
