Various events are being conducted over the weekend to remember those whose lives were lost on September 11th.  Flags are being flown at half staff across the area and state until Monday morning, and the Washington County Safety Center is taking time to remember lives lost as well.  Cara Sorrells, Supervisor at the Safety Center says they will be joining other Communications Centers across the country in observing two different moments of silence.

She says at 8:59 and again at 9:28, they will send an alert tone with an announcement that the moment of silence is in memory of first responders that lost their lives.  Sorrells adds those two times will correspond when the two towers fell.

She says these two moments of silence will not take place if there is a true emergency.  KCII will also be joining other broadcasters for a moment of silence at 12:00 noon tomorrow to remember those that lost their lives, and those who responded to the attacks on September 11th ten years ago.
