Posted By News On @ 6:26 am In Today's Local News | Comments Disabled

There is currently one case of West Nile Virus reported in western Iowa, as the summer flooding in that part of the state has increased the number of mosquitoes there.  Washington County Public Health Program Director Chrystal Woller says the symptoms of West Nile Virus are more evident in the very young and the elderly, but for others they can be so mild that you don’t even know you have it.

She says once identified, a virus like West Nile has to run its course and treatments are available for complications associated with the disease.  The West Nile season in Iowa usually lasts until the first frost.  For more information, contact Washington County Public Health.
