Casey’s General Store notified the Kalona Chamber of Commerce that they had received a counterfeit 20 dollar bill on Wednesday. The Kalona Chamber of Commerce warns people and businesses to be on alert. Dan Hill of Washington State Bank says not to depend on the counterfeit detecting pens.
He says to hold the bill to the light and look for markings that cannot be counterfeited. He recommends visiting the Federal Reserve’s website for more information on how to spot fake bills.
The counterfeit bill was received early in the morning on Wednesday; KCII will bring you more updates on this issue when they become available.
