80 Iowa coaches have joined the Coaches Mentoring Challenge, a campaign which has been spearheaded by Kirk Ferentz and Paul Rhodes of Iowa and Iowa State. Melissa Simmermaker, Program Director at Iowa Mentoring Partnership, says this is the first year the program has been used in Iowa, and it has been a success.

The program involves coaches signing on to encourage people in their communities to become mentors.

So far 1,241 Iowans have become mentors through the Coaches Challenge.
