The Golden Hawks righted the ship somewhat in the second half but in the end a fast Wilton start was too much for Mid-Prairie to overcome Wednesday night. In a game heard on Mid-Prairie saw the Beavers score on their first three possessions to jump out to jump out to a 21-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Wilton’s dynamic offense led by dual threat quarterback Dylan Stapleton saw the Wilton signal caller score touchdowns from on 17 and two yard runs in the barrage to begin the ballgame. Unable to get much going on the ground Mid-Prairie went to the air to set up their first score as Reid Miller found Jaemin Powell for 33 yards down to the Wilton two, a two yard plunge by Miller with less than two minutes to go first half cut the deficit to 21-7. Wilton took the momentum right back as returner Chris Brown took the ensuing kickoff back 65 yards to the Mid-Prairie 34 setting up another Dylan Stapleton two yard touchdown run making it 28-7 going to the break.

In the second half Mid-Prairie made some defensive adjustments, forcing a fumble and two Wilton punts but the Mid-Prairie offense continued to have a rough time against the athletic Wilton defense. The Beavers scored again to make it 35-7 with two minutes to play 3rd quarter when Powell took the ensuing kickoff and raced 99 yards up the left sideline for a touchdown. At 35-14 Mid-Prairie had their last chance to get back in the ballgame end on a 3rd down interception. Both teams traded touchdowns in the final 4 minutes, making the final 42-20. Wilton advances to the second round to be played Monday at #3 Mediapolis, the Beavers lost to the Bulldogs in week 1 28-21. Mid-Prairie graduates 17 seniors from this years squad and finishes the season 6-4.
