The Washington City Council met last night and approved the third reading of an ordinance amendment of adding a no through truck zone on South 9th Avenue and East Polk Street. A first reading was held for the adding of a Yield sign on East 9th Street and North 7th Avenue as well as a No Parking Zone on East Van Buren Street at South Iowa Avenue.
The Council took no action after hearing a presentation from Sid Ryan, President of the Washington Area Soccer Club about the use of 13 acres of the “School 90.”
The Council approved a resolution of a $45,000 grant application to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation toward paved shoulder improvements on Highways 1 and 92.
A public hearing date was also set for the demolition of the buildings at 209 and 211 South Marion Avenue. The public hearing date will be October 19th at 6:00 pm. A bid date for approving the specification of the demolition has been set for the end of the month.
