Columbus Junction has received a REAP Conservation Grant to purchase land on Monkey Run Creek. Mallory Smith, Community Development Coordinator, says the city has been purchasing properties on the creek in an effort to expand Monkey Run Park, and place a trail around the creek.

The properties in question are all properties that have been damaged by floods.

Columbus Junction has received a REAP grant before, that one was used to work on Chautauqua Park.
