The Washington Demons head into the final week of the regular season in a must win situation. The Demons travel to face Williamsburg. Washington played sixth ranked and district unbeaten, Solon to a two point game on Friday. Demon Head Coach Randy Schrader says it’s important they get a win in this next game for a number of reasons, including finishing with a winning record, sending the seniors off with a win, and perhaps most importantly a potential playoff berth.

If the Demons were to lose to the Raiders, and if Benton Community loses to South Tama that would put the Demons tied with Benton and Benton would win the tie breaker because they beat the Demons in overtime earlier this season. With a Demon win, that would create a three way tie with Benton and Williamsburg and since all would have beaten each other they would go to point differential average which looks good for Washington heading into this week.

Only losing to Solon by two will be helpful in that point differential tie breaker. Schrader says one of the biggest positives from Friday is they came away without any injuries which is something not a lot of other teams in the district have done

You’ll be able to hear Friday’s game right here on the one to count on KCII, we’ll be on the air at 7-pm with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show.

Tonight the Demon JV football team will host Solon. Because of the short turnaround between the last regular season game and the opening round of the playoffs, the JV game with Williamsburg is scheduled to be played on Thursday.
