The Washington Demon football team heads on the road to face sixth ranked Solon tonight. Washington is on a three game winning streak and Demon Head Coach Randy Schrader says coming in he feels like the kids are really buying in to what they are preaching which is going hard on every play. Solon beat Washington last year 43-14 at Case Field. The Spartans went on to beat Sioux City Heelan in the state championship game. It was their fourth state title in a row having won three straight 2A titles. This year like last year, the Spartans’ only loss was a non-district game against Regina. Schrader describes the biggest challenge in playing Solon is matching their effort, he is telling his team if they can match Solon’s effort, they’ll let the score take care of itself. If the Demons can win one of their next two games they will lock up the fourth playoff spot. If they don’t win, they need Mount Vernon or South Tama to beat Benton Community. The Demons are 4-3 and 3-2 in district play while Solon is 6-1 and 5-0 in district play. You’ll be able to hear tonight’s game right here on the one to count on KCII, we’ll be on the air with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 7-pm.
