Fall harvesting is happening and drivers need to be mindful of the farm machinery on the roads.  Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar says most farmers try to avoid traffic and stay out of the roadway but will have to drive in the travel lanes to avoid items along the shoulder.

He says drivers need to use extra caution when attempting to make a pass while the equipment is on the roads.

Dunbar says the newer farm equipment has turn signals to help alert drivers of possible turning.  He adds keeping a safe distance when following any piece of machinery.

Dunbar says if you see any sort of  dangers either while driving the farm equipment or any other vehicle, to report that to his office.
