Iowa Senator Gene Fraise a Democrat from Ft. Madison has announced that he will not seek another term. Fraise, who represents Senate District 46 that includes all of Henry county was elected to his seventh term to the Iowa senate in 2008. Fraise, a farmer, describes falling into politics wanting to make a difference in how monies were designated began his political career with two terms on the Lee County Board of Supervisors. He was elected to the State Senate for the first time in 1986.
He is proud of the work he has done in Southeast Iowa including IJOBs funding for the City of Winfield, the renovation of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department headquarters, work on projects regarding the state penitentiary in Ft. Madison as well as several education, transportation and tourism projects. The 79 year old Fraise’s term ends December 31st, 2012.
