The Department of Labor is proposing new rules that would restrict the work minors can do on farms.The rules would restrict the vehicles the minors could use as well as their ability to work with animals such as horses.

Laurie Johns of the Iowa Farm Bureau says the rules are meant for safety, but are too disconnected from the actual farms to work.

She says all farmers support rules to promote safety, but most think these proposed rules go too far.
