The Washington Community School District has received trees on their sports complexes. A $3,000 grant was given by the Department of Natural Resources as part of their “Trees for Kids” program. Superintendent Dr. Mike Jorgensen says the grant was used to plant 30 shade trees on the new soccer and softball complex located south of the new high school.
The Washington Betterment Foundation assisted with a $700 match in the grant. Egli Landscaping worked with the school district and the planting took place yesterday morning with DNR Consultant Laura Wagner present at the planting.
