Some sixth grade students from Lincoln Elementary had an opportunity to learn about the workings of aviation on Saturday.  Mike Roe, Chairman of the Airport Commission says the third annual Aviation Youth Camp was held at the Washington Airport.  He says the purpose of this event was to expose the kids to the thrill and challenge of aviation.  Roe says all sciences are used in aviation.

He says the kids received a plane ride, learned about rockets, made paper airplanes and learned about the plane body and how it works in flight.  Student John Lisauskas says he enjoyed the view during his flight.

He says he might want to become a pilot in the future.  The event was sponsored by Lincoln School, the city of Washington, the Airport Commission, Iowa Aviation Promotions Group and the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 33 provided the flights through the Young Eagles Program.
