This week’s Start Somewhere Walk has prompted some offices to close.  The walk, part of Governor Terry Branstad’s Healthiest State Initiative has the goal to make Iowa the healthiest state in the nation in five years.

Throughout Washington and the entire County, walks are being held in an effort to reduce obesity.

County Auditor Bill Fredrick says there are county offices that will be closed in order to support the initiative.  The office closures will be from 12:00 to 12:45 Friday.

Offices closing:  Washington County Public Health, Treasurer, Auditor, County Attorney, Mental Health Disability Services, Veteran Affairs, General Assistance, Conservation, Zoning, Engineer, Assessor, GIS and Information Technology.
