It is October, which is Pork Month, and the Wellman Chamber of Commerce has an event planned to recognize the industry on Saturday. Chamber President Tom Buckwalter says the industry is very important to the area and they didn’t know of too many events centered on pork. This is the first year they are putting on the Quad County Pork Fest.
They will have several informative presentations such as a sausage making demonstration and for kids a farm safety presentation. Buckwalter says there will also be several fun events such as a couple of eating contest and a cook off.
The Quad County Pork Fest will be in North Park in Wellman and will last all day Saturday ending with a Jake McVey concert starting at 8-pm.
