Every November adoption groups raise awareness about the need for adoptive parents. In Wapello County, they have a special event on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This Adoption Day will be tomorrow this year. They will have a ceremony at the Wapello County Courthouse to celebrate nearly a dozen adoptions that will take place on that day. Bill Owens, the Juvenile Judge of Wapello County says it’s important to give recognition to the adoptive parents. He says the adoptive parents are either the foster parents and want to adopt the child, or have been planning on adopting a child for some time. The speaker for the event will be Linda Hoskins, principal of Albia High School, who is an adoptive parent and cancer survivor. The ceremony will be at 9 am at the Wapello County Courthouse. You can hear more about this event on our In Touch program today, or listen to it online at kciiradio.com.
