The bridge over Smith Creek southeast of Wellman that was closed in July has been reopened to traffic.  Washington County Engineer David Patterson says the new 138 foot bridge was designed by Assistant Engineer Jake Hotchkiss and he “did an outstanding job.”  He adds the bridge was completed on time and on budget.

Peterson Contractors of Reinbeck constructed the bridge for a total cost of under $461,000.   Patterson notes the design of the bridge also saved the county approximately $40,000 in design fees.
