The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and IOWATER are again encouraging Iowa students to turn in artwork and poetry for the annual River of Words contest. Lisa Fascher with the DNR says contests like this encourage students to use their talents and join in activities while gaining a greater understanding of nature. Winners of the statewide contest are put on display to be included in a traveling exhibit.
This year the exhibit was featured at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, the Science Center of Iowa and the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in Dubuque. The entries are due by December 1st.
