Flu season is coming. According to Lynn Fisher of Washington County Public Health the first cases of influenza start popping up around the end of November. She says the flu vaccine takes about two weeks to adjust your immune system, so it’s best to get the shot soon. She still recommends getting it at some point even if you can’t do it soon because flu season doesn’t reach its peak until February. This year’s vaccine is the same as last year’s, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get vaccinated again if you were last year. Fisher recommends everyone older than six months be vaccinated this year. Washington County Public Health has plenty of shots to give and they have clinics in Washington and Kalona all through the flu season.
