The girls’ basketball regular season has already begun and it was a busy night across the state, with several area schools in action. Highland-Riverside defeated Wapello 64-43 and Keota held off English Valleys 49-43. Linn-Mar-Marion held off Keokuk 51-41. Columbus Community got a team-high 10 points from Heaven Chandler but four players scored in double figures for Mediapolis as the Bull-Ettes pulled out a 78-30 win. Sigourney could not keep pace with North Mahaska, falling 76-25. Lone Tree lost a close game to Pekin 50-47 while Winfield-Mt. Union squeaked out a 37-34 win over Louisa-Muscatine.
