Harter Talks About First Year With Sigourney Girls

Andy Harter is a familiar face in a familiar place with a new role at Sigourney Schools. Harter has been with the Sigourney basketball program since 2001 but as this years season begins he is the first year Head Girls Basketball Coach for the Savages. Harter played his high school ball at Wapsie Valley High School for Washington alum Marty McKowen and from there went to school at UNI. Following  a short stint as an assistant coach at Riceville High School, Harter has been with the Sigourney staff in various capacities for the last ten years including spending the previous three seasons as an assistant Coach under Dave Tremmel with the Sigourney Boys. The Sigourney schedule will be a trial by fire in the early going, the Savages have one of toughest schedules in the state early. The Sigourney girls open up the season Tuesday when they host North Mahaska.
