The Lone Tree boys’ and girls’ basketball teams kick off a heavy week of hoops around the state tonight when they host Cedar Valley Christian. Head Coach Tom Squires and the Lone Tree boys’ basketball team tips off their season tonight when they host Cedar Valley Christian. The Lions return their top two scorers and rebounders from last year. Now juniors, Bryan and Logan Forbes combined to score 27 points per game during last season’s 12-10 campaign.

The Lone Tree girls got 24 points from Cara Chamberlain last week but ran into foul trouble and lost their opener at home to Pekin 50-47. Chamberlain will be one of four juniors expected to pick up the scoring after Courtney Burr and her 17 points-per-game graduated following a post-season run last year. The Lions look to even their record at 1-1 tonight when they tip-off the Lone Tree-Cedar Valley Christian doubleheader at 6:15.

Most of the early week action gets underway Tuesday night. The IMS boys and girls square off against Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday night while Keota travels to HLV-Victor for a doubleheader as the boys start their season and the girls look to improve to 3-0. Sigourney hits the road to take on BGM-Brooklyn as the boys begin their regular season and the girls look for their first win after falling to North Mahaska last week.
