Shotgun deer season opens on Saturday and KCII along with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources want to pass along tips to help keep you safe while hunting.  When hunting deer or other land wildlife, you should only use your own tree stand, wear a safety harness, pull your weapon up to your stand using a rope, and always wear blaze orange.

Paul Kay with the DNR wants to remind you that if you should see a representative from their office, you should always have your current year’s license with the correct tags for the correct animal.

Kay says that you should be familiar with the different regulations before leaving on your hunting trip and if you have any questions, you can contact your local DNR representative.
