The Jingle Bell 5K was a success Friday afternoon with about 60 people participating in the run/walk to benefit Washington High School. Demon track coach Steve Roth said they raised a good amount of money for the school.
“After all the bills we probably made a $1000 to give away and that’s going to go to the football field for the sod and will also go to Paws and More. We’ll give some to Main Street Washington for decorations, so it’s all spent and spent well and we appreciate all the people coming out and supporting (the Jingle Bell 5K).”
As far as the winners go, on the women’s side it was Kelsey Tacha taking the medal in the 10 and under class, Katlan Buchols topped the runners in the 11-19 age group while Megan Schiebel took first in the 20-40 class and Kim Richards broke the tape first in the 41+ age group. On the mens side, Blake Hartzler won the 10 and under group whith Nate Schiper topping those in the 20-40 age bracket and Tom Wheelan finished first in the 41+ group.
