A suspect is in custody after a break in at the Washington Junior High School Monday evening. Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman says an investigation was conducted Tuesday that showed video of the suspect inside the building. He says information was developed to lead them to who the person was.
Goodman says a couple of residences were searched in Washington and some of the items located were taken in the break in. He adds they also recovered a bicycle taken from Rider Sales last weekend.
Chief Goodman says the male juvenile has been taken into custody and is being held in Eldora. The juvenile has been charged with Burglary in the third degree, theft in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree by the Washington Police Department.
Washington County Attorney Larry Brock is filing a juvenile delinquency petition for the above charges as well as an incident from October 26th where the juvenile was found to be in possession of marijuana (a serious misdemeanor) and drug paraphernalia (a simple misdemeanor).
The second petition is being filed for an incident from October 4th where the juvenile was found to be in possession of marijuana (a serious misdemeanor). Additionally, charges are pending for two other juveniles for possession of stolen property.
