As the Keota girls basketball team gets ready for the season, they are working on getting used to a new coach. Long time coach Dave Fish retired at the end of last school year. Jenny Hobbs takes his place coming over from Sigourney. Hobbs says she has worked with a lot of the girls already at camps. She says one thing the players are getting used to is her as a coach and her personality. She says she likes to have fun and joke around but when the ball is bouncing in the gym she’s all business. As for the style of play Hobbs says her offensive approach is different than Coach Fish’s. Previously Keota was more likely to have patient possessions with a lot of passes where she likes a more up tempo style and encourages the girls to shoot quick. The Keota girls will play in Pekin’s Jamboree on Tuesday and open against Belle Plaine Friday the 18th.
