Area residents are encouraged to take part in a letter writing campaign.  Cassie Creasy, a Volunteer Program Specialist with the United Way of Johnson County and in conjunction with the Washington Chamber of Commerce says they are participating in the “Letters From Home” campaign.

She says this is a project to collect letters to send to Iowa troops who are stationed or deployed.  Creasy says this project is being done in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Those wishing to write should begin the letters with an open greeting, not dated and the letters should not be put in sealed envelopes.

The letters are being accepted through Monday and can be left in special boxes at the main office of the Washington High School, Washington Chamber of Commerce or Fareway in Washington.
