The Lone Tree Lions were hosting Lisbon in quarterfinal football playoff action last night. In a game heard on KCII, the Lisbon Lions had their starting quarterback Ben Knake go down to injury as he was hit while throwing on second down. Knake would not return and running back Tait Simpson took over. Simpson would settle in as Lisbon would get up by two touchdowns in the first half.

The Lone Tree Lions put together a drive and converted a big third down as Gabe Loreack connected with Bryan Forbes on a long pass to put Lone Tree at the thirty. The Lions would punch it in on fourth down from the one with Gabe Loreack diving into the end zone on a second effort to make it 14-7 with 1:20 left in the half.

Lisbon nearly put together a late first half drive getting in the red zone and having a touchdown called back on a holding penalty. They’d have to try a 25 yard field goal only their second attempt on the season and it was blocked sending the teams in at halftime with Lisbon leading 14-7.

In the second half Lisbon opened with a lengthy drive to score a touchdown and go up 20-7 and that would be all of the scoring. Lisbon throughout the night did an excellent job of generating yards after initial contact. Many times Lone Tree defenders would put a hit on in the back field or line of scrimmage and Lisbon runners were able to pick up five or six yards.

Lone Tree did have a chance to get back in it midway through the fourth quarter as Lison in their own territory had trouble with a snap on a punt which gave Lone Tree great field position. Lisbon would buckle down on defense and hold them on a fourth down.

With the win Lison is now 12-0 on the season and Lone Tree finishes their season 10-2 with their only two losses coming to number one ranked Lisbon.
