The National Emergency Alert System Test, which will take place tomorrow, has been shortened from two and a half minutes to 30 seconds. The Department of Homeland Security recommended the test be shortened. The two and a half minute test would have been much longer than past tests and officials were worried it might panic people. Broadcasting may be interrupted for up to a minute and a half, with 30-45 seconds going to the test, and the rest of the time dedicated to test tones. The test will take place at 1pm and will be on all channels. This is only a test, but keep in mind that KCII is the one to count on for up to the minute coverage in an emergency. We can bring you the information you need right away, and information can be found 24 hours a day at KCII Radio.com.
