This month is National Hospice month. Hospices around the country are trying to get the word out about the care and compassion Hospices can provide to patients. Hospices are designed for patients who have been given a terminal diagnoses with 6 months or less to live. The hospice provides pain and symptom control as well as works with the family of the patient. Robin Harvey-Smith of Hospice of Washington County says that patients live much longer, and much happier in a hospice environment. She says many people think a hospice is where you go when you have days to live, but the hospice can provide care for much longer than that. If you would like more information on Hospice care, contact Hospice of Washington County, or listen to our In Touch Program on Monday to hear more.
