The Keokuk County Extension Office will hold a training session for Pork Quality Assurance Plus. Terry Steinhart of the Extension Office says this program was started by the Nation Pork Producers due to concerns about antibiotic residues in pork. The Program now teaches about antibiotic withdrawal time and general animal care, but now also incorporates animal welfare issues as well. The program is voluntary, but most pork packing plants require at least one person to be PQA Certified. The program will be from 10-12pm on November 22nd at the Keokuk County Extension Office.
