The Washington Demon boys and girls basketball teams will once again be playing WACO in a Hall of Pride Scrimmage. The two teams played last year in Wayland the Friday after Thanksgiving. Girls Head Coach Phil Long says it’s an unusual scrimmage with all of the elements of a real game. Teams are allowed to have a certain number of scrimmages each season but they are not allowed to keep score or have officials, or charge admission for them. Last year was the first year the state allowed Hall of Pride Scrimmages as a fund raising mechanism for the Hall of Pride. Long says these are great for the early part of the season to get the teams into the groove of a real game. He says they are also encouraging alumni to come out. With this being the last season in Demon Gym they plan to recognize past students who have played basketball or wrestled in the gym. The Demons will have a new high school next school year. The Deamons and the WACO Warriors meet in Demon Gym Friday after Thanksgiving with the girls tipping off at 6:00 followed by the boys.
