The Washington School Board heard a construction update on the new high school as part of their meeting last night.  Dan Culp, Project Coordinator says the construction is on time and on budget.  The board has also agreed to have Culp work on arrangements for bids for the electrical upgrade to the 1918 building. Board President Eric Turner says they made modifications to the Iowa Demonstration Grants related to work in the 1918 building.

He says the Board approved the bid for Open Driving School in Mt. Pleasant to offer driver’s education classes. Turner notes Open Driving School will also offer a reduced rate for students with free and reduced lunches.

He says the Board recognized the establishment of the Jennifer Lewis Scholarship.  This fund was set up to be awarded to students interested in the science field.
