Washington and Mid Prairie squared off in a doubleheader of basketball action last night and it was the Demons who picked up the sweep. The Washington girls (2-0) forced 19 first-half turnovers and jumped out to a 29-9 halftime lead but Mid Prairie (0-1), playing their season opener, closed the gap in the second half but it would not be enough as the Demons rolled to a 43-28 win. Next up for ninth ranked Washington is a top-10 matchup with preseason number one Williamsburg Thursday night.

The Washington boys (1-0) opened their season with a 63-48 win over the Golden Hawks. Four players scored in double figures for the Demons, led by 16 from Jake Redlinger. Mid Prairie (0-1) got 16 points from Jaemin Powell in the loss.
