The Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants to remind everyone about being safe on snowmobiles this winter. Shawn Meier, Washington County DNR Law Enforcement Bureau District Supervisor says to know the hazards that might be encountered when out on a snowmobile like planning your trip before you leave, have enough gas, and to not go out alone.
He says anyone who is over the age of 16 should have a valid driver’s license before leaving and should have attended safety classes. Meier says to take your safety certificate with you as well in case you should be stopped by a DNR or law enforcement official.
