The Washington City Council held the first reading of an ordinance amendment of changing streets in Washington.  This reading is to amend the city code to make Sitler Drive a one way between Iowa Avenue and Avenue B and have new no parking zones on Sitler Drive, South Avenue E and Tyler Streets.  This reading was passed and moved to the second reading.

The Council also approved a resolution of a contract award for the West Side sanitary sewer interceptor project.  Out of the 11 bids submitted, the contract was awarded to DeLong Construction of Washington for a little over two point eight million dollars.  The work will begin the middle of next month on the project.

A motion was ratified about the publication of notice of a Council appointment.  This appointment will be to fill a two-year term in the city’s third ward.  Anyone interested needs to submit a letter to the Council by Tuesday, January 3rd and will be discussed at their meeting the next day.

The council also considered the amending of the agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to mill and overlay Highway 92.  This was necessary as the shoulders will not be widened.
