Washington, IA – The Washington girls’ basketball team hosts Durant tonight with the JV game tipping off at 6:15.
The varsity squad looks to push their record to 4-1 and remain perfect on their home court following a 60-36 win over Fairfield on Friday. Demon coach Phil Long says they’ll have to do it with a shorter bench. Several girls are battling illness and they’ll be without senior Emily Zehr.

“Nice win Friday night, unfortunately, Emily Zehr went down with a partial tear of her ACL so she’s going to be out a couple of weeks and hopefully be available to us after Christmas. Tonight it’s the next girl in scenario as we go against a Durant club that’s 3-1.”

Demons will need to rely heavily on Sydney Greiner who leads the team with an 18 point-per-game average. The Wildcats enter on a two-game win streak after a win over West Liberty last week.
