Washington, IA – The Demon wrestling team continued their recent success on the mats last night, defeating Fairfield 49-21.

Washington won four bouts by fall, including Tristan Pohren at 113; Mitchell Hora at 132, Austin Knupp at 152, and Matt Grote at 170. The Demons’ Parker Turner at 145 picked up a 7-0 decision and Brad Skubal dominated at 160 with a 10-1 decision. Demon coach Brent Van Weeldon wasn’t surprised at the outcome.

”We went out and did what we needed to do. The kids that were supposed to win won big and the kids that lost didn’t give up a whole lot of bonus points so you figure everything in, we come out on top and that’s great for the program.”

Fairfield won all four bouts from 182 pounds and up, but the Demons won 9-of-10 matches at 170 pounds or less. Washington travels to Mediapolis this weekend.
