Crews from Alliant Energy will be in the Washington and Henry County areas the next few weeks to trim trees in an effort to reduce the chances of a power outage.  Alliant Line Clearance Manager Dan Green says they remove limbs as part a way to have safe and reliable electric service.  Green says they plan ahead for weather conditions and consider how much a tree will grow before the next trimming cycle.

Alliant workers will be in Washington, Wayland, Ainsworth, Crawfordsville, and Winfield trimming trees.  Green says the work should be completed in two weeks, but work could last up to twelve weeks depending on the weather.

Alliant crews plan to trim trees every three to four years.  Trees within ten feet of power lines will be trimmed.  Small branches will be chipped and hauled away.
