Girls Basketball Review/Preview

Here’s a brief look at how each girls basketball team in the KCII listening area finished the 2011 part of the hard court season and what lies ahead starting Tuesday next week.

Columbus Com. (5-4)

-entered break on 3-game win streak w/ two wins coming on the road
-Heaven Chandler avg 13ppg; Megan Pretz 8.7ppg, 11rpg
-host L&M and 8th ranked Mediapolis to open play after break


Highland (4-4)

-lost two straight to finish 2011
-Breanna Hall 12.4ppg
-host IMS and travel to Danville to open play after the new year


IMS (1-8)

-lost 4-straight to enter break
-Olivia Yutzy 10.5ppg
-open w/ two on road against Highland and Waco


Keota (5-5, 4-5 south iowa cedar)

-lost 3-of-4 to enter break
-open on road at BGM and English Valleys


Lone Tree (5-4)

-haven’t lost consecutive games
-Cara Chamberlain 9.8ppg
-open on road at WMU and Pekin


Mid Prairie (4-4, 3-1 cedar valley)

-won 3-of-last-4 to enter winter break
-Mallory McArtor and Mariah Swartzentruber leading the team in scoring at 7ppg
-host North Cedar and West Liberty to open play next week, starting Jan. 3rd


Sigourney (3-6 south iowa cedar)

-lost 4-of-5 to enter break
-@ Belle Plain and North Mahaska to open in January


Washington (7-1, 3-0 southeast)

-enter on 5-game win streak
-Syd Greiner 18ppg; Lauren Vittetoe 12ppg
-@ Ottumwa then host Mt. Pleasant


WMU (6-3)

-won two-straight to enter break
-Cassie Kingery 12.3ppg
-open at home against Lone Tree and L&M
